What is it
Although it has its origin in pointillism, the pictorial style emerged around the year 1880 of which its maximum representative was the French artist Georges Pierre
The Dotwork & Geometric style has developed the pictorial pointillism for very varied drawings, that is, you can see using the Dotwork style in tattoos of different styles, from a realism to a tribal.
Although the most common fusion is to use the Dotwork technique in the geometric style, they are also working on compositions with animals and more specifically with insects, obtaining very interesting compositions artistically.
Normally Dotwork tattoos are monochromatic , and those that are being done with color are usually worked or with red or yellow.
You could say that Dotwork & Geometric tattoos are replacing the old tribal and are becoming the neo-tribal of the 21st century.
Another style of tattoo that is related to Dotwork is the minimalist tattoo since they also usually use the technique of pointillism in some parts of the tattoo (normally the line that qualifies the tattoo is used in the most important area).
